My Dish wont display anything?

I just got a new Sharp tv and a new tv stand. We had to unplug everything so we could get the stand built and once we all got it done we plugged everything in to turn my tv on and all it is saying now is Acquiring Satellite Signal and if you own a dish you know what im talking about its been a couple minutes and the progress hasn't changed its staying on 0? This might not be enough info but i don't know how to explain this so im sorry.. What can i do im not very good at technical things im only 14 and this is only my second tv.
