Why do some uneducated woman end up with such horrible husbands?

I heard about drug addicts who end up dating guys that abuse them and beat them... some of them leave them with bruises, scars, bleeding wounds, or gashes in their body and verbally abuse them until there is no tomorrow... they live in a hell and nightmare I could never dream of or fathom... I don't know what would drive a woman to tolerate abuse like that from someone who doesn't love them that they themselves do not love either
