What do you think of excerpt from my novel?

On the bus the girls are rowdy and unashamed of their bare skin. In shorts and bathing suit tops, no one seems to take particular notice. It is summer after all – mid August – and it is obvious where these girls are headed. The beach, of course. Or perhaps the local swimming pool but the former seems more likely on such a day. They are tered throughout the bus, some in the front, some standing near the doorway at the back. They are laughing and joking, but their amusement is neither irritating nor trivial. One of the girls, perhaps thirteen years of age, is wearing a bright red bikini top and her white skin looks strikingly pale against the sharp color. One can’t help but wonder whether she has seen any sun at all this summer, and yet she is a beautiful girl. The one sitting across from her looks older, and has the more obvious good looks that go along with being the group’s leader. They are energetic, bouncy, the healthiest they will ever be. So fluid in movement, so rosy –checked, it’s near impossible to fathom those bodies ever growing tired, old, sick. For a time everyone on the bus is taken by these girls, and they recall a time, not so long ago, when they too were careless, loud, funny, seemingly unaffected and headed to the beach on a summer’s day in the middle of August.
